Free AI contract review:
what you get, and where it stops
Your first Ookulli contract review costs nothing. Every new account gets 120 credits, a full document analysis uses 100, and you do not enter card details to use them. That pays for the whole analysis of one service agreement, NDA or employment contract, checked against UK law. This page sets out what the free review includes, and what you pay for after it.
No card needed. Your documents are never used to train AI models.
What the free review includes
The free review is one full document analysis, the same 100-credit analysis a paid review buys.
A plain-English summary
What the contract commits you to, the key terms and the gotchas, written for the person signing it rather than for a solicitor.
Highlights on the clauses that matter
The clauses that need your attention, what is missing, and how UK law applies, each one traced back to the page and section it comes from.
Chat about your contract
Follow-up questions about the document you uploaded. That chat is included with the analysis and uses no extra credits.
20 credits for the general legal chat
After the analysis, 20 of your 120 credits are left. Each message to the general legal chat uses one, so that is 20 questions about UK law that are not tied to your document.
Your document stays private
It is never used to train AI models and never sent to OpenAI, Anthropic or any other model provider's API. It is processed inside Ookulli's own cloud environment, in line with UK data protection law.
Upload a PDF or DOCX and the review comes back in minutes.
Where the free review stops
Free has limits, and you should know them before you upload.
- You need an account. The 120 credits come with a new Ookulli account, so the free review needs one. Signing up asks for no payment details.
- It covers one document. A second analysis uses another 100 credits, which you buy. The smallest pack is £10, and the pricing page lists the larger ones.
- The general chat runs on credits. Once the 20 spare credits are spent, each further message to the general legal chat uses one more. Questions about a document you have already analysed stay free.
- Some contracts are out of scope. Ookulli reviews service agreements, NDAs, offer letters and employment contracts. A tenancy, shareholders' or settlement agreement needs a different check.
- It is information, not legal advice. If you are in a dispute, or the contract is worth £50,000 or more, take it to a solicitor. The review still tells you which clauses to ask about.
How to run your free review
Step 1
Upload the contract and create your account
Send the PDF or DOCX you were given. No card is asked for.
Step 2
Read the summary first
It tells you, in plain English, what you would be agreeing to.
Step 3
Work through the highlights
Each one points to the wording it comes from and the UK law behind it, so you can check the reasoning yourself.
Step 4
Ask about anything unclear
Use the chat on your document for follow-ups, then decide: sign, push back, or take it further.
For the detail of how each flag is reached, see how the review works.
Which contract to start with
A free NDA review
You have been asked to sign before a pitch or a first meeting. Ookulli checks how confidential information is defined, how long the duty lasts, whether it binds both sides, any non-compete hidden inside it, your portfolio rights and the liability cap for a breach.
NDA reviewA service agreement
A client has sent terms for a project. The review covers payment terms and late payment risk, who owns the work, liability and indemnities, and how either side can end the contract.
Service agreement reviewAn employment contract or offer letter
An employer has made you an offer. The review reads notice, restrictive covenants, intellectual property and probation, and anything that conflicts with UK law.
Employment contract reviewWhat "free" means on other contract review tools
Free AI contract review tools do not all mean the same thing by free. Some need no account and give you a set number of reviews. Some give a short free first look and charge for the full report. Some say "free to start" and leave the limit unstated. Before you upload a contract anywhere, ask four questions:
- Is the free part the full review, or a preview of it?
- Which country's law does it check against? A clause that is normal in the US can be unusual or unenforceable in the UK.
- Is your document used to train a model?
- Where does the free part stop?
Ookulli's answers: the full review, for one document; UK law; never used for training; and the limit is on this page. The trade is that you create an account first. For what gets checked in each kind of document, see the contract checker.
